Check out :http://columbusexplorer.com/category/articles/sports/blue-jackets for updates from the arena.
With the injury to Kristian Huselius, this could become a huge concern finishing the season without their top play-maker. If the Jackets don't finish with at least a 1-1-1 record, they probably will have to settle for seventh in the conference. If that happens, that means they will have to play a first round matchup with Detroit. There goes not only a more favorable matchup, but Detroit fans will overwhelm Blue Jackets fans at the gates, thus negating any home ice advantage in the two-three games played at Nationwide Arena.
I doubt this team will finish eighth, but if they do, they would face off against San Jose. San Jose is more solid between the pipes and has the league's top forward in Joe Thorton.
Getting Huselius back is very important.
I talked to R.J. Umberger following the overtime loss to Chicago on Sunday. He said he felt there was too little chemistry between him, Rick Nash, and Manny Malhotra. It appears that coach Ken Hitchcock realizes this and might put someone else at left wing. Possibly Jakub Voracek. I would look for Umberger rejoining Vermette as a dynamic duo. Those two have been great lately.
If Nashville loses to Chicago tonight, Columbus can clinch a playoff berth tomorrow night in Chicago. Get ready Jackets fans!
